Updated: 2:30 p.m. Southampton Town Police have identified the operator of a motorcycle who was killed in a hit-and-run crash with an SUV in Riverside early this morning as Leroy Quintin Ferry, 38, of East Quogue.

Police are still looking for the driver of the SUV that struck Quinton-Ferry’s 2009 Hayabusa motorcycle as he traveled northbound on County Road 104 near Pine Street at about 5:45 a.m. The SUV fled the scene eastbound on Pine Street, police said.

Responding officers found a man lying in the roadway at County Road 104 near Pine Street, according to an updated report issued by police this afternoon.

In the updated press release, police said the SUV is believed to be an early 2000s model, tan in color. An earlier release said the vehicle was described as a 2002 GMC Envoy. The tan-colored SUV is believed to have passenger-side damage, police said.

Several 911 callers alerted police to the crash, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Southampton Town Detectives at 631-702-2230. All calls will be kept confidential police said.
