Riverhead Police have held "coffee with a cop" sessions at local delis and restaurants to open lines of communications with members of the community. Here Sgt. Ron Atkinson, left, and Police Officer Patrick Loszewski chat with Duffy's Deli manager Ian O'Keeffe in November 2016. File photo: Denise Civiletti

Join a conversation with a police officer over a cup of coffee on Friday, Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. One Stop Flanders Market and Deli at 730 Flanders Road in Flanders.

This will be an opportunity for people to talk to officers that work with in the community. Community members will be able to discuss local issues and work together to solve them.

The Coffee with a Cop program was started in 2011 and aims to create a better connection between the community and local police officers.
