Amy Wesolowski, the operator of a vehicle in a Flanders Road crash that killed her 4-year-old daughter in January, has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Wesolowski, 35, entered her guilty plea on Nov. 1 in Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead, according to online court records.

Wesolowski drove her 2005 Toyota SUV out of her driveway and into oncoming traffic on Flanders Road at about 11:40 a.m. on Jan. 13, and was struck broadside by another vehicle, according to prosecutors. Her daughter, Gracelyn Perkowski, a backseat passenger in the vehicle, was critically injured in the crash and died Jan. 16 at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Wesolowski admitted in court she was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

In addition to vehicular manslaughter, a felony, Wesolowski pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs under Leandra’s Law, which makes driving while impaired with a child passenger a felony offense. She also pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Wesolowski is due back in court for sentencing on Dec. 14, when she is expected to be sentenced to 1 to 3 years incarceration, according to a spokesperson for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. The Suffolk DA recommended 2 1/3 to 7 years incarceration. Judge Richard Ambro offered the defendant 1 to 3 years, which she accepted, the DA’s spokesperson said.
