The Flanders woman involved in a crash on Flanders Road Jan. 13 that claimed the life of her 4-year-old daughter has been indicted on vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DWI charges.
Amy Wesolowski, 34, was indicted on Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class C felony, Aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, class E felony, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, all misdemeanors.
A Suffolk grand jury returned a five-count indictment against Wesolowski on March 15, according to court records.
Weslowski’s daughter, Gracelyn Perkowski, a passenger in the vehicle, died of injuries sustained in the crash on Jan. 16 at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Wesolowski, the operator of a 2005 Toyota RAV-4, collided with a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan operated by Sonya Fezza, 29, of Water Mill, on Flanders Road near the intersection with Fanning Road on the morning of Jan, 14, according to police. See prior story.
Following the crash and her release from Peconic Bay Medical Center where she was treated for injuries, Weslowski was arrested on charges of Aggravated DWI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned in Southampton Justice Court on Jan. 14. She Pleaded not guilty at the arraignment and was released on her own recognizance.
Weslowski is due to be arraigned on the indictment charges in Suffolk County Criminal Court on March 29.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
