Riverhead Police are investigating an assault at a residence after midnight Sunday that left a man with a stabbing wound requiring treatment at the hospital.
Police said on a press release yesterday they were called to a residence on Northville Turnpike near Roanoke Avenue at 12:35 a.m. Sunday for a report of a physical assault occurring outside the residence.
The 26-year-old male victim told police three unknown men climbed over a fence adjacent to the railroad tracks to enter the backyard and attack the victim. He said the men, two Hispanic males and one while male, were wearing dark clothing with hooded sweatshirts.
The victim reported that he was able to fight the subjects off but that he sustained a stab wound to his arm prior to the three men running off in an unknown direction.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the victim to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injury. He was treated and released, police said.
