Riverhead police officers spoke with residents and shared a cup of coffee at four locations Wednesday morning for the annual “Coffee With A Cop” Day, an event held nationwide designed to “build trust and help foster a sense of community,” according to a press release from the Riverhead Police Department.
Officers shared coffee and perspectives at Bean and Bagel Café, El Deli Chapin & Grocery, Lolly’s Hut and Duffy’s Deli.
Sgt. Dino Isgro and Officer Giuseppe Rosini met with residents at Route 58’s iconic Lolly’s Hut. They discussed the state of the town, shared memories of Riverhead and talked about topics like immigration.
Isgro praised Coffee With A Cop Day as a “great community event.” He said he was glad to “get to talk and get to know each other.”
“It’s casual, over a cup of coffee,” Isgro said. “It’s a great way for the community to interact.”
