Be sure to support the Riverhead Rotary’s Country Pancake Breakfast this morning from 8 am to 12 noon at the Riverhead Polish Hall on Marcy Avenue. “All you can eat” pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, French toast and bagels. Adults $20, Seniors $15, and children under 12 years $10 and of course under 5 years old they eat free. A great way to meet your neighbors, new community friends and support a good cause. 

Check out the Pancake Breakfast on Sunday November 12 from 8 am to 11:30 am hosted by the VFW Auxiliary at the VFW Post 2476, 620 Parkway Street in Riverhead. They will be serving eggs, pancakes, home fries, sausage, juice, tea and coffee. Adults $10 and children $5. Veterans eat free! Thank you all who served our great nation. 

On Wednesday November 8 check out the unveiling by the Riverhead Litter Committee the Riverhead Fish Trash Receptacle, an eye catching 4 foot by 6 foot wire container designed to encourage beach goers to “feed the fish” by disposing their drink containers properly. The fish was designed and created by Clayton Orehek, a glass artist and sculptor and was funded through grant monies received from National Grid. Hope to see you there at 12 pm at Iron Pier Beach in Jamesport. 

On Friday, November 10 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm the Riverhead Free Library would like to express deep appreciation to our Veterans for their service to our country. In honor of Veteran’s Day, the library will be showing the movie “Midway” about the World War II battle of the same name. Snacks will be provided.

The Woman’s Club of Riverhead holding their Pajama and Book Drive once again and is being held at the Riverhead Free Library during November 1 through December 20. They ask you to donate pajamas and a book for infants, children, or teens up to 17 years of age. You can drop off your items at the library or if you want you can donate a check to the Woman’s Club of Riverhead, P.O. Box 848, Riverhead, NY 11901, and the group will purchase pajamas and books on your behalf for this program. As always, they thank you for your support. 

There is a Holiday Food Drive being held at the Riverhead Free Library starting November 6 through December 1 hosted by Senator Anthony Palumbo and Long Island Cares teaming up to sponsor a non-perishable food drive for those in need during this holiday season. Stop by the library and drop off your donations. 

Greater Jamesport Civic Association next meeting will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 9:30 am at the Jamesport Meeting House, 1590 Main Road in Jamesport. All are welcome to attend! The guest speaker will be Peter Ganley, operations director for Congressman Nick LaLota. Also, that morning they will conduct the annual election for members of the Civic Association’s executive committee. 

Also, on Saturday, November 18 Hallockville Community Clean-up will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Become a Hallockville helper by bringing your rakes, gloves, leaf blowers and pitch in to help with the fall cleanup at historic Hallockville Museum Farm. Volunteers will enjoy a complimentary pizza lunch. 

Country Parlor Holiday Folk Art and Gift Show will be held on Friday, November 24 through Sunday, November 26. Please visit the Hallockville Museum Farm on Sound Avenue in Riverhead for an unique shopping experience featuring exclusively handcrafted gift items, art work and holiday décor created by local artisan and craftspeople all featured in the Naugles Barn which will be transformed into a holiday wonderland. Admission is free and hours are Friday, November 24 from 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26 from 10 am to 3 pm. Happy shopping. 

Experience old-fashioned North Fork holiday traditions during the Historic Holidays at Hallockville on Sunday, December 3 from 12 pm to 3:30 pm. Holiday displays in three historic residences on the 28-acre preserved farm will be staffed by costumed docents welcoming guests and sharing stories of past holiday celebrations. Historic Holidays at Hallockville is free and open to the public. Hallockville can be found online at www.hallockville.org.
