Riverhead faculty and staff take on the Harlem Wizards Thursday evening on the basketball court in the Riverhead High School gym.
The Riverhead Central Faculty Association, which sponsors the Wizards game, announced the RCFA All Stars’ roster for Thursday’s match-up.
The team will be coached by Cherese Foster, with assistance from Jimmy Richardson.
Faculty from each of the seven schools in the Riverhead district have been tapped for the RCFA All Stars’ roster.

- Nicole Orfanitopulos & Lisa Nappe – Roanoke
- Patrick Fabian, Stacy Seal, & Jerry Nardello – Riley
- David Hernandez & Daniela Bennett – Aquebogue
- Megan Pepe & Danna Carrillo – Pulaski
- Ryan McCormick & Martin Faint – middle school
- Brendan Duffy, Rick Vlacci & Evan Philcox – high school
“There is a great deal of excitement brewing for the game between our teachers and the Harlem Wizards,” Riverhead Central School District Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich said in a press release.
“Students cannot wait to see our educators out on the court as all of the schools in our district will come together to celebrate our district community and the values of cooperation, dedication and resolve,” Pedisich said.
The Harlem Wizards return to the Riverhead court this year after a three-year hiatus. RCFA began sponsoring the Wizards event in 2013. The event is a fundraiser for the teachers union’s scholarship fund. Each year, a sellout crowd has cheered on the RCFA teams that take the court to challenge the Wizards, a razzle-dazzle basketball team that awes audiences with trick shots, fancy footwork, humor and lighthearted style.
What the RCFA All Stars may lack in stature and skill, they more than make up for in enthusiasm and sportsmanship, to the thrill of students, families, and fans who pack the stands to root for their home-court favorites.
The Wizards and All Stars will take the court at 7 p.m. Thursday. Doors open at 6 o’clock.
Tickets available online at the Wizards’ website. General admission is $15. Online ticket sales continue through 3 p.m. Thursday.
Tickets will be available at the door for $18 the night of the event.
