The Riverhead Police Department is asking the public’s help to locate a teenage girl missing from Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch since Friday afternoon.

Avaya Brown was last seen at Riverhead High School Friday March 22 at about 2:15 p.m. wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants and carrying a black tote-style fabric bag and an iPad, according to a police press release issued Saturday night.

Police described Avaya as a 15-year-old Black female, 5′-6″ tall, 135 pounds, with a light complexion, brown eyes, and brown hair worn in braids or a bun. She wears eyeglasses, police said.

Avaya attended classes at Riverhead High School on Friday and at the end of the school day did not board the school bus to be transported back to the Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch Ladybug House, 2767 Sound Avenue, Baiting Hollow, police said. She was observed walking northbound from the high school on Harrison Avenue, with an unknown destination according to the report. 

Avaya  was reported to be in the Coram area during the evening hours  Friday with persons known to her, police said, but it is unknown if she is still in the area at this time.

No foul play is suspected, police said.
