Riverhead Town launched its redesigned website Thursday morning.
“This updated platform represents our continued commitment to serving residents with transparency, accessibility, and efficiency,” the town said in a pop-up message on the site.
The updated website, still located at townofriverheadny.gov, was developed by CivicPlus, a Kansas based technology company that hosts websites for every town in Suffolk County other than the Town of Islip. Riverhead last redesigned its website in 2011.
“Our goal is to keep residents informed. From government operations to public notices, the site centralizes vital information in one place, ensuring accountability and open communication,” the town’s message says.
Supervisor Tim Hubbard said during Wednesday’s Town Board meeting that the town has been working with a company on the website for months and is “very excited that it’s finally coming to fruition.”
“As with any new item when it first comes up, there may be a few little things we have to straighten out, but I promise you, you’re going to like it,” Hubbard said. “You’re going to like the format, and it’s so much easier to navigate and find things that you’re looking for.”
Hubbard thanked the town’s Information Technology Department, led by Network and Systems Administrator Chip Kreymborg, for its work on the site. “[T]hey did a fantastic job rolling over all the data from the old website and creating new content, and training for the employees,”
Like the previous website, the new site allows users to subscribe to notifications for updates, announcements and events.
The website “with our agenda and minutes software, consolidating multiple platforms into one,” the town’s pop-up message says. Documents from past meetings, which were located either on the website or in a separate software that managed the Town Board’s meeting agenda, have been added to the new portal.
The website is “ADA-compliant,” referring to the federal Americans With Disabilities Act, “and includes translation tools to support multiple languages, ensuring accessibility for all residents.”

In December, the Town Board approved a contract with CivicPlus to develop and host the new website. The town agreed to pay the company $80,268.75 for those services in year one, $68,470.00 in year two, and a 5% increase in fees each year after. The contract will automatically renew unless canceled.
