Shake Shack opened its first East End location today at Tanger in Riverhead, bringing the national burger chain to a 3,100-square-foot space in Tanger 2.

The Riverhead restaurant opened at 10:30 a.m. following a ribbon-cutting attended by town and business representatives, Shake Shack staff and representatives of the Church of the Harvest Food Pantry, which will receive $1 from every sandwich sold at the restaurant on opening day.

The food pantry, located on Raynor Avenue in Riverhead, serves people facing food insecurity each Wednesday and also provides homebound deliveries, a pantry representative said at the ribbon-cutting. The pantry serves between 500 and 600 families a month, she said.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Jerry Halpin welcomed Shake Shack to Riverhead and thanked the company for investing in the town. Marianna Garcia of the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce said the opening represents an investment in the community, job creation and the local economy.

Shake Shack is known for its made-to-order Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes. The Riverhead Shake Shack offers indoor dining as well as to-go ordering which you can place in Shack, onĀ ShakeShack.com, or on the Shake Shack App, a company representative said.

The new Shake Shack is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.
