All 23 retail establishments checked by Riverhead Police on Wednesday were found to be in compliance with state law prohibiting the sale of tobacco and vape products to people under age 21, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (COPE) Division, in cooperation with the Riverhead Community Awareness Program (CAP), conducted the compliance checks on Sept. 16 in an effort to reduce underage sales, according to a department media release.
The following locations were checked and found to be in compliance, police said:
- BP Gas — 4670 Route 25
- Valero — 5904 Route 25A
- Wading River Smoke & Vapor Shop — 6278 Route 25A
- 7-Eleven — 6305 Route 25A
- Bolla Mobil — 4129 Middle Country Road
- Mobil — 3705 Middle Country Road
- Sunoco — 1879 Old Country Road
- One Stop Smoke Shop — 1698 Old Country Road
- Bolla Mobil — 1575 Old Country Road
- Valero — 1356 Old Country Road
- Empire Gas — 1050 Osborn Ave.
- Gotham Smoke Riverhead — 1085 Old Country Road
- 7-Eleven (Traffic Circle) — 1050 Old Country Road
- 7-Eleven — 870 Old Country Road
- Bapa Vapor & Smoke Shop — 763 Old Country Road
- Polish Town Deli — 432 Pulaski St.
- Shell — 626 W. Main St.
- Riverhead Stationary — 407 E. Main St.
- Mobil — 415 E. Main St.
- FA Grocery — 733 E. Main St.
- OK Petro — 1212 E. Main St.
- American Gas — 1427 Main Road
- Tobacco King Beer Cave & Beverage Shop — 1451 Main Road
Riverhead Police asked anyone with information about suspicious or criminal activity to call the department’s Crime Hotline at 631-727-3333. Calls will be kept confidential, police said.
