A 5K run on one of the runways at Calverton will honor Andrew McMorris, the Wading River Boy Scout killed by a drunk driver in 2018. Proceeds will benefit a foundation established in his name that works to advocate against drunk driving.

The Holbrook man convicted of driving while intoxicated and killing 12-year-old Boy Scout Andrew McMorris of Wading River in a motor vehicle crash in Manorville on Sept. 30, 2018, was sentenced today to the maximum sentence of eight and one-third to 25 years in prison.

Thomas Murphy, 60, convicted in December on multiple felonies in the drunk driving death of Andrew McMorris, 12, of Wading River, is now due to appear in court on July 31.
