South Jamesport Avenue has been given the honorary designation “Det. Brian Simonsen Way” by a resolution unanimously adopted by the Riverhead Town Board this evening.

South Jamesport Avenue will bear the honorary designation “Detective Brian Simonsen Way.”

The solemn funeral procession — led by dozens of motorcycle cops — made its way from St. Rosalie's church in Hampton Bays to Jamesport Cemetery.

Local police, firefighters, EMS and residents lined Main Road in Riverhead Wednesday night to pay respects to slain NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen of Calverton, whose body was brought from New York City to DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck escorted by dozens of police and emergency services vehicles.
