Riverhead Town Board to return head planner to work — and strip him of his authority
The Town Board is poised to order head planner Jefferson Murphree back to work this week. But he'll be coming back to a new position in a new department — and he will no longer be a department head. Instead he'll be reporting to Dawn Thomas, who will head up the new Department of Planning and Economic Development.

Town board at odds over job status of community development director
Jamesport resident and former town attorney has been at the helm of the Riverhead Community Development Agency for 18 months as a provisional employee. She scored a perfect 100 on the civil service exam for the job title, and the three Republican board members want to make her a permanent hire. The supervisor wants to interview other candidates on the civil service list who also had perfect scores.
