Chefs Elizabeth Ronzetti and Adam Kopels, of Southold, plan to bring their acclaimed restaurant, 18 Bay, to the Dimon Estate property on Manor Lane in Jamesport.

The restaurant on Manor Lane in Jamesport was put on the market by owner Kar-McVeigh after the Riverhead Town Board granted permission to expand the existing restaurant, but limited the expansion by roughly 10% of the additional space Kar-McVeigh was seeking.

A public hearing on the request to add a catering facility at the former Jamesport Manor Inn was concluded last week by the Town Board, which now must decide how to proceed with the special permit application of property owner Kar-McVeigh.

During a public hearing on the Dimon Estate's expansion application, residents argued that the expansion would disrupt their quality of life and would violate the spirit of the Agricultural Protection Zone.

After several months of settlement negotiations involving two separate lawsuits between the town and the owners of Dimon Estate over catering at the Manor Lane, Jamesport restaurant, the owners have filed a new application to build a 6,000-square foot dining/catering room addition.

The Dimon Estate in Jamesport has canceled all weddings it had booked for 2022, after the Town of Riverhead refused to issue a tent permits to the restaurant.

Outdoor weddings can continue this year at the Manor Lane restaurant that has been a magnet for noise complaints by irate neighbors and the subject of ongoing legal disputes with the Town of Riverhead. A State Supreme Court judge last week refused to impose a preliminary injunction against outdoor events, outdoor catering and the use of tents at the Dimon Estate in Jamesport.

The Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals has again denied the appeal by the owner of the former Jamesport Manor Inn concerning its continuing catering operations. — but the lengthy ongoing legal battle continues.
