They’re mad as hell and they’re not going to take it any more. Residents of Flanders, Riverside and Northampton, frustrated and upset by recent crime on their streets are planning to descend on Southampton Town Hall Tuesday to demand action.

Southampton Town Police are searching for three armed men who reportedly robbed a Flanders home at shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Southampton Town Police lieutenant Monday put the number of reported vehicle break-ins at 42 to date. Police are asking the public to report any intrusions into parked vehicles, even if nothing is taken and no damage is done.

Rep. Lee Zeldin has appealed the decision by the L.I. district manager and requested a face-to-face meeting with the U.S. postmaster general to make the case for new zip codes.

Having their own zip codes would foster community identity, and eliminate confusion from 80 duplicate addresses within the 11901zip code, which is spread over two municipalities.

A 36-year-old Flanders man shot outside his McKinley Street home yesterday afternoon is in critical condition after emergency surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was airlifted by Suffolk Police. Two men who fled the scene were apprehended and charged in shooting.
