Focus schools

The Riverhead Central School District has again been designated a focus district by the State Education Department, with all but one of its schools — Aquebogue Elementary School — designated by the state as “focus schools.”

Angry parents confronted the Board of Education with concerns about the focus school designations and the administration's unwillingness to actively resist the state testing mandates.

Aquebogue Elementary School will add a new classroom to accommodate the transfers, Superintendent Nancy Carney said today. All class sizes will remain within contractual limits, she said.
