Riverhead Free Library budget

Riverhead Free Library’s proposed $3.75 million operating budget for 2017-2018 calls for a 2.3-percent spending increase and a property tax levy increase of 1.03 percent. A public hearing will be held tonight at the library, beginning at 6 p.m.

Voters approved the $3.67 million Riverhead library operating budget by a vote of 184 to 95. Baiting Hollow Library’s budget passed by a vote of 179 to 101.

The proposed budget calls for a $3.67 million operating budget, up from $3.58 million last year. The tax levy would increase from $3.45 million to $3.54 million, which amounts to an increase of $83,567 or 2.4 percent.
