Thanks to a generous $20,000 donation from a Bohemia pastor, the region’s first home for traumatic brain injury survivors is finally planning its opening date.

Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco will be honored at the New Beginnings golf outing May 20 for his support of the Brendan House Project.

The event raised more than $1,500 for its three beneficiaries and students collected around 450 lbs. of food.

The Brendan House is nearly complete, thanks to the help of inmates from Suffolk County Sheriff's Labor Assistance Program – but a water hook-up bill is delaying the group home's opening.
