The board: approved Nile Rodgers' FOLD Festival, set for Aug. 12-14, adopted a ban on 24-hour retail operations in certain zoning districts, one affecting the proposed 7-Eleven in Aquebogue, set hearings on proposed laws to set term limits for the town board, extend the supervisor's term to four years and allow for high-density rental apartments in a new 'floating' zone that will allow for the development of the Family Community Life Center on Northville Turnpike.

The approval was held up because the town failed to complete an environmental assessment form and now has asked the applicant for additional information, which hasn't yet been submitted, according to a Riverhead official.

The Riverhead Town Board was poised to approve a special event permit for Nile Rodgers' 'Freak Out! Let's Dance' three-day music festival at Martha Clara Vineyards Aug. 12-14, until civic leader Angela DeVito pointed out that the planning department did not complete the environmental assessment form for the application The board is now expected to act on the application on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
