Citing "feedback" from municipalities and other stakeholders, Optimum will return government and public access programming to their prior channel positions, the company notified the State Public Service Commission yesterday.

Riverhead's government access channel has moved from channel 22 to 1310, as of Aug. 22. Public access channels are now channels 1300 and 1302. The move came without prior notice, the town said.

Optimum phone service was impacted locally, while Optimum customers in New York City, Westchester and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut were left without phone, TV or Internet service.
