Sixth-graders who filled the Pulaski Street auditorium sat in total silence as speakers brought to life the story of an ordinary young man from Riverhead whose extraordinary valor in combat in Vietnam saved his fellow soldiers’ lives at the expense of his own.

Pulaski Street School celebrated the 247th anniversary of the Continental Congress adopting the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States of America on June 14, 1777.
