Riverhead Townscape

The 47th Annual Riverhead Country Fair takes place in downtown Riverhead tomorrow, featuring craft vendors, artisans, food, carnival ride, midway games, live entertainment and local craft spirits and beverages. Tomorrow’s weather forecast (sunny & 65°) couldn’t be better.

A blues festival returned to downtown Riverhead for the first time since 2012. “Blues by the River,” a six-hour show at the new town square on the riverfront featured five bands, and sold about 400 tickets, according to the event organizer.

The Peconic Riverfront will be the backdrop for an outdoor blues festival for the first time in more than a decade next month when Riverhead Townscape presents “Blues by the River” Sept. 9. Tickets go on sale at midnight tonight.

The Colorado blue spruce will grow to be about 50 feet tall, said Jim Warner of Warner Nursery, which donated the tree to the town. “Every town needs a Christmas tree,” he said.

The Jim Lull Memorial Concert Series, sponsored by Riverhead Townscape, presents a free music concert every Friday night in Grangebel Park.

The Riverhead Country Fair has been canceled due to today's weather, organizer and Riverhead Townscape board member Tom Farruggia said this morning.
