National EMS Week: In Riverhead, volunteer service works to keep pace with increasing demands in growing town
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, founded in 1978 to provide emergency medical services for the Riverhead Ambulance District, which takes in more than 70 square miles, today answers more than 4,000 calls each year. The population of the town has grown by more than 65 percent since the corps was established.
