School budgets

Voters in school districts across the local region passed budgets in the May 19 election. Here's the roundup of results.

Riverhead Central School District voters approved the 2026-2027 operating budget  Tuesday by a vote of 944 to 841.

The Riverhead school board adopted a $218.88 million proposed budget Wednesday and set a May 6 hearing. The budget vote and board election take place May 19.

Riverhead school officials said special education accounts for 55% of the proposed budget increase as auditors reported no high-risk findings.

Voters in Riverhead, Shoreham-Wading River, Eastport-South Manor, Longwood, Hampton Bays and across the North Fork approved budgets Tuesday.
