No matter who they were — no matter what their past — no one deserves to die as the Gilgo victims did. No family should suffer all these years without closure. It's time for an independent probe into how this investigation was handled in a county where two top law enforcement officials were convicted of corruption and obstruction.

“Her alleged actions were diabolical,” Sini said. “Not only was this defendant allegedly involved in the victim’s death, but she then attempted to steal the very house he was murdered in.”

Suffolk DA Tim Sini issued a warning to cocaine users today about fentanyl-laced cocaine after three overdoses — one fatal — in Riverhead.

A Lake Grove couple has been charged in connection with a fatal fentanyl overdose in Riverhead late last month.
