Riverhead Police detectives have made arrests in connection with two armed robberies.
One of the men, Maximillian H. Bonilla, 18, is charged in both the robbery of a Calverton gas station on Jan. 1 and the robbery of the Riverhead GameStop on Dec. 28. Police described Bonilla as undomiciled but using a relative’s house in Mattituck as his address. A second man, Joseph G. Worysz, 19, of Southold, was charged only in the gas station hold-up.
Both men were arrested yesterday, police said. Bonilla faces three counts of second-degree robbery. Worysz faces two counts of second-degree robbery. They were arraigned this morning in Riverhead Justice Court. Bonilla was held on $40,000 cash bail/$80,000 bond on each of the incidents. Worysz was held on $10,000 cash bail/$20,000 bond. Both are due back in court Friday, according to court records.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
