Riverhead highway crews will be paving Howell and Fishel avenues tomorrow and Elton Avenue on Monday, weather permitting, Riverhead Highway Superintendent George Woodson said in a press release yesterday.
Paving will begin at about 7 a.m. on both days.
Paving will be done on the entire length of Fishel and Howell avenues and on Elton Street between Northville Turnpike and East Main Street. The roads will be closed to all traffic other than people who live on the streets in question while work is underway. “Working in conjunction with highway flagmen will enable you to enter and exit your area safely,” Woodson said.
All residents on these roadways are asked to remove all vehicles, planking and any obstructions, including garbage cans, from the road before 7 a.m. and to refrain from raking leaves to the curbside until after paving has been completed. Leaves in the gutter will prevent crews from paving. Vehicles left in the roadway may be towed at owners’ expense.
Should it rain Monday, the work on Elton will take place Tuesday.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this causes,” he said.
