A man was beaten by three teens in an attempted robbery on East Second Street late last night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police said a 29-year-old Hispanic man on East Second Street near East Avenue was talking on his cell phone last night at about 11:30 when he was approached by three youths.
According to the police report: One of the youths struck him in the face and demanded his phone; when he refused to turn it over, the three of them punched and kicked him as he struggled to retain control of his phone. He was able to call out for help and the three attackers fled the area on foot without any proceeds.
The victim described his attackers as two black males and one black female, all in their mid- to late-teens, according to the police report.
He was treated at the scene by Riverhead Ambulance and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the attack, police said.
