Riverhead Police are searching for a man who robbed the Speedway gas station on Route 58 and Ostrander Avenue late last night.
Police said they received a report of a robbery that just occurred at the gas station at 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
A male wearing a dark hoodie entered the convenience store at the Speedway and gestured as though he had a handgun in his pocket. The suspect then removed cash from an employee and the cash register. He ran northbound from the gas station, the employee reported.
The suspect, who had his face covered during the incident, was described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and a dark complexion, according to the report.
Patrol units arrived on scene shortly thereafter and the Riverhead Police K-9 unit conducted a search of the area but did not locate the suspect, police said.
