An 83-year-old Riverside man was arrested on drug charges Friday by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force, Southampton Town Police said in a press release today.
John Woods is alleged to have been operating a walk-up narcotics service from his home, police said.
Southampton police had received numerous complaints from the community about high volumes of foot traffic and drug use in the area, according to the press release. After an investigation by the task force, the Southampton Town Police Department Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at Woods’ home, police said.
Woods was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Fourth Degree, both Felonies, according to the report. He was arrested and arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
The East End Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Suffolk County Police Department, the
Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police Department, the Southampton Town Police
Department, the Riverhead Police Department, the Southold Police Department, Suffolk County District
Attorney Investigators and the Shelter Island Police Department.
