A Riverhead man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law late Saturday night after a traffic stop on East Main Street, Riverhead Police said.

One person was killed and several others injured in a seven-vehicle crash on County Road 105 in Riverhead Wednesday evening that police said was caused by a drunk driver.

Southampton Town Police reported three arrests for driving while intoxicated in the Riverside-Flanders area last week.

A 41-year-old Riverhead man with a prior DWI conviction was charged with felony DWI and had his vehicle seized, after entering a police checkpoint with an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle, Riverhead Police said.
