Riverhead Farmers Market
Riverhead’s indoor farmers market, which has moved around among a few different vacant East Main Street stores since its inception in 2014, may be moving for the last time. East End Food Institute, which took over running the famers market in 2019, has signed a three-year lease on the former Homeside Florist and Greenhouses site on Main Road in Riverhead. The farmers market will open there Nov. 27 and the nonprofit organization has big plans for the site in the future.
Riverhead’s indoor farmers market opened for the season today, featuring more than 40 vendors of locally sourced produce, dairy products, poultry, meats, wines, baked goods and artisan wares.
The Riverhead Farmers Market will open Saturday under new management, with a fresh new look and 42 vendors, including several newcomers.
The indoor winter market has a new home this year: the cavernous space at 54 E. Main Street, next to First Congregational Church.
The BID Management Association was not able to recoup rental costs from vendor fees at the Main Street location it's been renting for the farmers market for $1,200 per month on a year-round lease.
Santa Claus will be in residence at the Riverhead Farmers’ Market every Saturday and Sunday this month, through Dec. 21.
The Riverhead Farmers Market will include crafts vendors for the holiday season beginning Nov. 22, Riverhead BID president Raymond Pickersgill said.
Riverhead Farmers Market is now a weekend event: to open both Saturday and Sunday beginning this week
Beginning this weekend, the Riverhead Farmers Market will be open on Sundays as well as Saturdays. Its Sunday hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Riverhead Farmers' Market has moved indoors for the season at 221 East Main St., Riverhead, at the corner of McDermott Avenue. Open every Saturday from 10-2, organizers are considering opening on Sundays too.
