Suffolk County Transit buses

Three people were injured when a county bus and a Montauk Bus Co.school bus collided at the intersection of Northville Tpk and Doctors Path Wednesday afternoon.

A man police said stabbed a passenger on a Suffolk County Transit bus in Riverside Friday was arrested on first-degree assault, weapon possession and drug charges, Southampton Town Police said in a press release Friday night.

A Suffolk County Transit bus collided with another vehicle on Griffing Avenue this afternoon, snapped a utility pole and crashed into a brick office building on the corner of Griffing Avenue and Court Street, injuring six people.

A spokesperson for Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone told RiverheadLOCAL today the bus stop would be moved back to the train station “over the next few days.” The move to Griffing Avenue “clearly … wasn’t working out as intended,” the spokesperson said.

The two were passengers aboard a county bus and got into an argument when she asked him to wear a face mask while riding the bus, police said.

Town officials are asking the county bus company to relocate its bus stop away from the building at the Riverhead train station, which they hope will reduce loitering near the building.
