McGann-Mercy appoints Tom Palasek Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach

Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School is pleased to announce that Thomas Palasek has accepted the position of Head Coach of the McGann-Mercy Monarchs Varsity Lacrosse team.
An attackman on the New York Lizards professional lacrosse team,  Palasek
graduated from Rocky Point High School, and continued his education at John Hopkins University and Syracuse University. During his scholastic and collegiate education, Palasek was a stand-out lacrosse player, earning several accolades and awards, including being named 2013 Major League Lacrosse All-Star and 2011 NCAA Big East Tournament Most Valuable Player – 2nd Team All Big East while at Syracuse.
While still in high school, he was named Under Armour All-American (2008), US Lacrosse All American, Long Island Player of the Year, and was nationally ranked (#8) by Inside Lacrosse for the class of 2008. He holds the Rocky Point High School record for career points (181 goals) and assists (217). Since joining the New York Lizards in 2012, Mr. Palasek was named Cascade Rookie of the Week twice and was also named Game MVP twice in the 2013 season.

opportunity to benefit from his youth, enthusiasm, knowledge of lacrosse and
his experience in playing at the highest competitive level of the sport,” said Paul Mastronardi, McGann-Mercy athletic director. “We hope that additions to our coaching staff, such as Mr. Palasek, in response to the increased interest in lacrosse here at Mercy and on the east end of Long Island, will move us one step closer to fulfilling our vision of bringing our athletic program to the next level,” added Principal Carl Semmler.
