A federal judge delayed the next conference in the even-year elections lawsuit to weigh how a new U.S. Supreme Court voting-rights ruling could affect the case.

Riverhead Democrats officially named Supervisor Jerry Halpin their candidate in the upcoming election at a committee meeting Thursday night.

The Riverhead Republican Committee last night voted to run Council Member Ken Rothwell for town supervisor in the November general election.

Council Member Ken Rothwell is considering a run for supervisor in 2026. The Even-Year Election Law requires a new supervisor vote next year and party committees will be choosing their candidates by the end of February.
