Sound Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions today between Phillips and Church lanes for paving work, Riverhead Highway Superintendent George Woodson said.
Work will get underway first thing this morning and continue until about 3 p.m. weather permitting, Woodson said. It will go on unless there’s heavy rain, he said.
Traffic will be detoured around the work area, down Phillips Lane and Church Lane.
“Please use caution on the roads, watch out for construction vehicles and slow down,” the highway superintendent said.
