Flanders and Riverhead fire departments held their annual memorial services on Sunday, remembering their deceased members with solemn rituals and prayers.
Flanders Fire Department held its service at Fireman’s Memorial Park on Flanders Road at 10 a.m.
Riverhead Fire Department held its service and annual inspection at its headquarters on Roanoke Avenue at 4 p.m. The department memorialized four firefighters who died in the past year: Arthur Thompson Jr., Russell Fleischman, Fred Moore, William F. “Turk” Edwards. Chief Kevin Brooks led the members in a renewal of the Oath of Service.
Jamesport Fire Department has announced it will hold a memorial service and annual inspection on May 19 at 6 p.m. at its headquarters.
