Centereach handed Riverhead a bruising 41-0 loss on the Blue Waves’ home field Saturday afternoon.
The Waves were plagued by numerous turnovers and a defense that couldn’t stop the Cougars’ running game, which produced five touchdowns and a total of 368 yards on the ground.
With the loss, Riverhead fell to 2-4 in Division II.
The loss came on a day dedicated to former Blue Waves standout Dashan Briggs (’07) who perished in a military helicopter accident in Iraq on March 15. The team retired Briggs’ uniform number 22 in a pregame ceremony on the field.
