Many families can use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to help stretch their food dollars but are unaware that they are eligible. The Riverhead Free Library is offering a free workshop on Dec. 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. to see if SNAP can work for them.
Federal SNAP benefits offer nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net according to the Department of Agriculture website.
The informational session, taught by Fatima Lasso, is open to the public at no cost.
