Corrections officers and deputy sheriffs who died in service will be honored tomorrow at a memorial service on the grounds of the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead.
The annual memorial service will honor 71 Suffolk County corrections officers and deputy sheriffs who have died in service since 1887.
Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon Jr. will give the memorial service address and State Senator Monica Martinez will be this year’s Master of Ceremonies. The service, which starts at 11 a.m., will be attended by family members, who will place roses by the sheriff’s office monument in honor of those who served.
The service is held by the sheriff’s office in conjunction with the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs PBA and the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association.
