Update-12 noon: The male pedestrian who was struck in the intersection at Route 105 and Flanders Road last night died at the scene, Southampton Town Police said in a press release this morning. Police said they are still working to identify the victim.
Original post: A pedestrian in the intersection of Route 105 and Flanders Road was struck by two vehicles just before 7:30 p.m. yesterday, Southampton Town Police reported in a press release last night.
A 2021 Mercedes SUV turning from Flanders Road onto Route 105 struck the man, who police said ran into the road into the path of the car. The impact sent the man into a lane of travel, police said, and he was then struck by a 2013 Honda Odyssey minivan.
After receiving several 911 calls about the crash, Southampton Town Police responded and requested Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance and Flanders Fire Department for assistance, according to a police press release.
Police provided no information about the condition of the victim.
The drivers of the both vehicles, Sepehr Sajjad, 46, of Madison, Connecticut and Christian Torres-Novarro, 37, of Riverhead, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to the report.
Southampton Town detectives responded and are currently investigating the crash, police said.
