Riverhead Police charged a Miller Pace man with selling tobacco or vape products to a person under age 21 on Wednesday.

Muhammad Imran, 50, who was charged with Unlawful Dealing with a Child, a class B misdemeanor, is an employee at Valero Gas in Wading River, police said in a press release.

The arrest came during a townwide compliance check conducted by Riverhead Police with cooperation from the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, which tested 24 locations across Riverhead Town for compliance with laws that prohibit the sale of tobacco and vape products to persons under age 21. The other 23 locations were in compliance, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
