Riverhead’s Alive on 25 street festival has been postponed due to a storm in the forecast for Friday, according to the event’s organizer. The festival will be held on its rain date, Aug. 23.

Showers and a chance of thunderstorms are in Friday’s forecast for northeastern Suffolk County, according to the National Weather Service.

The downtown street festival, sponsored and organized by the Riverhead Business Improvement District, begins at 5 p.m. and offers live music, street vendors, craft beverages, restaurants, food trucks, artists, street performers and activities for kids. A laser light show that was planned for Friday at 9 p.m. will be rescheduled to Aug. 23, according to a Facebook post made by the BID.

The Aug. 23 event will be the second and last Alive on 25 event of the summer.
