Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home is partnering with the United States Marine Corps in the Toys for Tots program again this year.
Residents and business owners of Riverhead and the surrounding communities are invited to join in the effort. Donations of new unwrapped toys for children of all ages can be placed in the Toys for Tots collection box during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Dec. 14 at the Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home, 406 East Main St., Riverhead.
“The holidays should be a time of joy for parents and children alike, not an additional burden,” Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home owner Sal Mangano said. “We are glad to support children in our local community any way we can.”
The United States Marine Corps created the Toys for Tots program in 1947. Since then, the program has distributed over 566 million toys. In 2023 alone, in cooperation with local businesses like Tuthill Mangano Family Funeral Home, the program made Christmas merrier for 9.9 million children. The mission of Toys for Tots is simply to bring joy to children in need by providing new toys at Christmas and sending a message of hope.
