The Wading River Fire District is hosting a critical blood drive on Tuesday, July 22. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. This initiative comes in response to the current critical blood shortage being experienced in the state, which has left some hospitals facing shortages.

Donors who show up to donate will receive New York Mets tickets, courtesy of New York Blood Center. The following are key details for potential donors:

– Prepare to donate: Eat well and hydrate.
– Bring a photo ID.
– Feel good and symptom-free.
– Must be 17 or older, or 16 with a parental consent form.
– Meet minimum weight requirements.

While supplies last, appointments are strongly preferred, but walk-ins are also welcome. For full eligibility requirements and COVID-19 information, visit the New York Blood Center website. Any questions can be directed to Jennifer at 516-310-2382.
