Riverhead High School’s Blue Masques will open its spring musical, “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” Thursday night, with four performances scheduled this weekend.

The production will be staged in the Charles Cardona Auditorium at Riverhead High School on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

General admission tickets are $15. Tickets are $5 for Riverhead students with ID.

Based on the hit film, the show tells the story of Elle Woods, who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and, in the process, proves herself to be far more capable than anyone expects. The musical features a book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

Known for its upbeat score, fast pace and big ensemble numbers, the show has become a popular choice for school productions. The original Broadway production opened in 2007 and received seven Tony Award nominations.
