An Aquebogue woman has been arrested on a grand larceny charge, the Southold Town Police Detective Division announced in a press release today.

Ellen “Bunnii” Buglione, 32, was arrested in Riverhead on Saturday, Dec. 6, on Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a class C felony. The arrest follows a long-term larceny investigation in which the defendant is accused of stealing funds from Ellen’s on Front, a restaurant located on Front Street in Greenport, while she was employed there, according to the police report.

A person is guilty of grand larceny in the second degree if they steal property the value of which exceeds $50,000, according to New York State Penal Law. If convicted, a defendant faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison. There is no mandatory minimum sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the Southold Town Detective Division with assistance from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, police said.

Anyone with information that may assist this investigation, or who believes they may be a victim, is asked to contact the Southold Police Department Detective Division at 631-765-2600.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
