John B. Johnson of Mastic Beach died Jan. 15, 2026, in Far Rockaway. He was 60 years old.
He was born June 13, 1965, in Copiague, to John and Ethel (Norman) Johnson. He attended Copiague High School, graduating in 1984, and SUNY Cobleskill.
On May 7, 1988, he married Tressa Miles at First Baptist Church of Riverhead.
He worked as a route salesman for Drake’s Bakery and was also the owner of F & J Construction. He was a member of Bakeries Union Local 550 and served as a Lynvet football coach for PAL.
His hobbies and interests included coaching football, fishing and MasterChef. His family said he was the “life of the party.”
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Ethel Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Tressa, of Mastic Beach; his children, John G., of Mastic Beach, Jared, of Mastic Beach, Tinna, of Mastic Beach, and Jayden, of Mastic Beach; his siblings, Brendan Norman, Deborah Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Clarence Smith, Tara Smith, Mark Smith, and Barry Scott of Jamesdale; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Riverhead. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private cremation. Memorial donations may be made via GoFundMe: The family of Tressa Johnson.
